einahsketch: (Sarah Bellum is for shamed)

Livejournal isn't doing it for me any more. The site's been losing popularity recently and it's reflected in the response my posts get (very little). I just don't keep up with this place any more, and other websites have done a much better job of keeping my interest.

I've started a Art Tumblr, which has an RSS feed if you don't want to create an account to follow it. I've recently posted a lot of old art on there, so you may have seen most of it. I hope to be more consistent in my posting there since it's pretty hit-and-go, much faster than creating entire dumps.

I don't know if this will be my last lj post, but I'm not going to go out of my way to post things here.

So, uh, if I don't come around here too much, thanks for encouraging me and keeping me entertained and stuff.

Posting the things I've scanned for Tumblr, so this isn't my entire sketch book or anything. I figured I'd put mini-dumps here and there, since I'm starting to scan more for other sites than this one.

So, I guess if you want to see these things ahead of time, check my Tumblr.

Concepts for Estrella, a character for a children's story in Creative Writing that I'm still trying to figure out. The basic story is that she wants to become a star (literal star), until she learns about the size of the universe and begins to feel insignificant. Then... SOMETHING, some kind of mystical-but-not-really-because-I-don't-want-to-suggest-that force remedies those thoughts.

Like I said, working on it.

Have I ever posted Fritty here? Yes, no? Okay, I consider Fritty to be my first original character, even though I hesitate to use the word "original." He was heavily based off a Pikachu knock-off I made. (Basically Pikachu painted brown with black stripes and given a machine gun and a puffy tail. Yeah, don't ask.) Despite not really developing much, I still love the little guy, as he represents an important step in the evolution of my art. This is my first time drawing him in a very long time, since once I started to stray from my anime-phase, which he is linked to in some ways, I drew him  less and less. So a bit of a redesign here, just in the eyes and markings. He used to be far more cartoony and stupid looking.

Also, another character, this one I assume your recognize, Josephine the Pirate Queen. I've been reworking her to fit a children's story (in poem form) while also being accessible to an adult audience. Or perhaps making her an adult character accessible to the younger audience. I have no idea. Again, Creative Writing is a part of this.

Big difference here is her hair. It's less afro-y when she's younger, and becomes rounder as she gets older. I've always struggled with drawing this character, so I'm glad I sort of have a grasp on her now. My favorite is the sketch of her and the rat - I just love the shading.

What, you thought I'd do a sketch dump and NOT include some LinkxZelda sexy times? Please.

This started off as a rather innocent sequential kiss study (lack of clothes explained by the fact that I just didn't FEEL like it, kay?) but evolved into something less innocent. If you want to read it properly, start in the middle, go down left, right, up, left.

To be honest though, it actually turned into something else: a hand and movement study. When it got to positioning the bodies, I thought about how the hands would move, which is why it turned sequential (which was not my original intention). Though anatomy is kind of shot, I do sort of like the awkwardness of the positioning, like it was unplanned.

This is something I wrote in my free time, when I should have been writing a very important assignment for English. But I feel this is far more important to me than any grade ever could be. It's copied from my Tumblr, which is why I make mention of it in the third paragraph as a way to establish the general topic of this essay. I'm posting it here beforehand because I like you guys.

It's long, but I like to think it's worth the read.

I know it's been months since I posted anything. I got distracted. I'd say by school, but nah, not really. It's Tumblr. That site is addicting. Infuriating at times, but addicting.

Let's start the dump, shall we?
This is from three different sketchbooks: the rest of the peacock covered one, the one that I was using as placeholder while waiting to get a new moleskine, and the new moleskine itself. I'm sorry the images are so big. I need to be more consistent about my resizing process.

I'm going to finish scanning things tonight, but by the time I'm done, I'll want to sleep.

You can check out my tumblr to see some of my favorites.

Because that's what this is, right? A sketch blog or something?

It'll be a biggie. And I'm still scanning so it'll be a couple hours.

The big piece of the first semester. Everyone in the class created their own character, and we each had to create a story using at most four of those characters. This is what I came up with:

Treasure Hunt )
einahsketch: (Default)
So this story was a joint one. I came up with the characters, and my partner Olivia came up with the two settings. I wrote the majority of the story using those elements. Like the Keanu Reeves one I just posted, this was a kind of on the spot story, not something with weeks of planning behind it or anything.

A piece from last semester. We had to write a story based only on the title we were given.

I Am Not Keanu Reeves )

A script for a one-act play we had to do in Creative Writing. The prompt was a guy goes to a speed dating service to find his soul mate and ends up getting a job instead.

The  entire thing has its share of problems, and it's probably rather predictable, but I enjoyed writing it. So yeah, if you have the time, feel frre to read and feed back:

Yup yup yup! )

Alright, so this is the last story that we have to do in Creative Writing as a part of our Pod Project, and this one is part of the Fantasy genre.

It actually started off as, if you can believe it, something of a Zelda fanfiction.

Let me explain.

There was a rumor going around a few years after Twilight Princess came out that the next Zelda game was going to be a lot darker. The popular theory was that you don't play as Link at all, but rather, as a guy who thinks he's Link and vows to save the princess even though she isn't in trouble.

I discussed this theory with my friend Katie, and we came up with some interesting ideas for how that would work. A man living a very normal, happy life with his family, running a bakery and everything, one day snaps due to some trigger setting off something in his mind, and he believes that he is the Hero of Time. He believes that his family and everyone around him are all working for some great evil and therefore must die. Using a bread knife as his weapon and a cutting board as his shield, this non-Link kills his family and several other people and makes his way to Hyrule, and disaster quickly follows.

This is something of that story, though de-Zeldafied and starting with a Hero trying to live a far simpler life.

I realize, like my previous stories, that there are some problems, and again, those will be addressed when I revise the story again a few months from now for our final grade.

Feedback is encouraged and appreciated if you do read the story!
The Hero's Return )

So we had another story in Creative Writing, this time having to do with a Murder Mystery. I wasn't sure why I decided to do what I did, but I really wanted to write about mice. I'm sure this has everything to do with my deep seeded love for Brian Jacques and the Redwall series, but I also took inspiration from Ratatouille as far as the setting goes. However, this isn't a kid's story, again, probably because of the Redwall influence.

I didn't go through and check for errors, and there are a couple things I want to bchange (like replacing Tombo with Ambrose, so that he can be there from the eginning and such.) I got really into it, though (I was up until 4:30 this morning. I'm insane.) and I kinda like. So yeah.

I realize it ends kind of abruptly. The page limit was max of 20, and this is 21 and two lines, and I didn't want to go much past that. When it comes time to revise our works for the final project, I'll give it a proper conclusion.

Anyway, hope you like it aaaand thanks for reading.

I wrote a script for the prologue for a project in Creative Writing.

Feel free to read it if you're intrested.

I'm kind of obsessed with it.

More to come with my next sketch post.

Gonna say though, not sure when that will be. There'a lot going on this month:

-paper due Friday
-bithday Sunday
-two projects due Tuesday
-several tests and quizzes and then

So I'll try to find time to scan this weekend, but it'll probably be the weekend after before I post anything.

So much Rapunzel.

I had to race to sign into my LJ today. The login kept disappearing. What is this.

This has been one of my favorite moleskines to date. I've had it since late summer, and we've been through a lot. I like that I can see improvement in it. I like the memories I have associated with the various pictures. I only have a few pages left, so I'm cramming as many sketches as I can to a page.
