CAKE TIME! So I decided to try making a cake covered in fondant. Why? Just... cuz. But Houston weather is unkind, so the fondant was extremely sticky, so I had to add about a cup more powdered sugar than the recipe called for. And it became dry and STILL sticky, and tasted 100% like powdered sugar. It took much rolling and much trial and error before we could finally get it on THE COMPLETELY DELCIOUS OH MY GOD NOM NOM cake. Even then it was cracked and a little beaten up, but you know, that's not what counts. What counts is that I had a cake covered in fondant. Sure, I was going to inevitably take the fondant off before eating it because it was way too sweet, but I still had a cake.

Anyway, here's Mr. Fondant Covered Cake Man:

Since [livejournal.com profile] bernica asked for the recipe for the cookies I made in my last entry, figured I might as well post it. This recipe was taken from the Joy of Cooking cookbook by Irma S. Rombauer and Marion Rombauer Becker. It's old and smells funny.

Chocolate-Chap Drop Cookies [unmodified]
Perheat oven 375 degrees.
- 1/2 cup butter
Add gradually and beat until creamy:
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Beat in:
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Sift and stir in:
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons sifted all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Stir in:
- 1/2 cup chopped nutmeats
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Drop the batter from a teaspoon, well apart, on a greased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes.
Makes about 45 2-inch cookies.

Later this week: BROWNIIIIES!

First of all, YAAAAY COOKIIIIES! They're chocolate chip and walnut, we double the recipe, tripled the chocolate and the cookies are twice as big as the recipe calls for. And they are yummeh. Very sticky dough though. And now I smell like butter. I can post the recipe if anyone's interested.

Anyway, I finished up a digital piece today!

It's big so you can see all the mistakes! :D )
